Netflix breaks Own Record: ‘Red Notice’ now has Biggest streaming Debut in History

Red Notice Smashes Netflix Box Office Chart with Escapist Tongue in Comedy Cheeks #RedNotice #Shorts

According to the Smart TV measurement firm Samba TV, 4.2 Million US households watched Netflix’s “Red Notice” during its debut weekend. These numbers triggered a historical, record breaking amount of streams – a new all time high for the Netflix streaming service.

Although Rotten Tomatoes scored the action comedy as only 35% “tomatometer” the audience score ranked a whopping 91%.

Having watched the movie myself I can understand the scoring. The movie is kinda what you would expect with the typical humor of Ryan Reynolds and The Rock. It is the type of movie you can watch on autopilot and not really have to think about the overall plot. The film is enjoyable to watch considering the all-star cast, yet as some reviews have mentioned, the movie does follow the same contrived premise of previous action/heist flicks.

Yet – who cares?! Sometimes viewers just want a daily dose of escapism and that premise is proven with the record breaking weekend “Red Notice” received.

Second: Jungle Cruise is an upcoming American adventure film based on the Disney theme parkattraction of the same name. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the film will star Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Jack Whitehall, Édgar Ramírez, Jesse Plemons and Paul Giamatti, and is set for release on July 24, 2020, by Walt Disney Pictures.

Third: Onward is an upcoming American computer-animatedurban fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. It is directed by Dan Scanlon, produced by Kori Rae, and stars the main voices of Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer.

Fourth: Available via AppleTV+ starting on November 1 (free if you recently purchased qualifying Apple products) the Documentary showcases the majestic lives of an Elephant herd.

Fifth: Charlie’s Angels is an upcoming American action comedy film directed by Elizabeth Banks, who also wrote the screenplay, from a story by Evan Spiliotopoulos and David Auburn. It is the third installment in the Charlie’s Angels film series.

Hobbs & Shaw Get a Good Kick-off with Thursday Opening: Official Preview Trailer

Opening on August 1st and grabbing some attention this weekend, aiming for a $60 million debut, the big-budget action spin off from Fast & Furious has some work ahead…

Starring Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw it’s clear this is popcorn and top level (expensive at $200 million in production costs) Stunts and EFX, with more than a dash of comic relief.

Adding the gravitas of Idris Elba raises the overall quality of the characters, and Johnson and Statham are tried and true masters of the genre, if there is such a thing. Can entertainment be more pure? A badass duo that you can never accuse of taking itself (themselves?) too seriously. Seriously.

No need to worry about the exact plot twists or even the connection to the Fast & Furious franchise, this is pure guilty pleasure summer enjoyment, plain and simple.

Perhaps after all the cute cats we’ve all been seeing lately, a bit of fantasy testosterone might be just the thing, on a hot August night.

Basically, we are saying: check out the trailer above and if it adequately entertains, you’ll probably do no wrong in escalating yourself into a theater to take it all in.

Can You Guess Which Celebs are in this Montage of AI Portrait Results?

First is was the FaceApp that added years to your face with its app filter, in the FaceApp Challenge – with questionable issues regarding the origins (Russia) and terms of service agreement.

Now, from a more reassuring source, namely researchers in the US, including some from the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, we have the opportunity to see our selfies (and celebrity snaps) transformed into pseudo-classical portrait styles.

The web site upload system, currently down due to massive demand, uses GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) results from 45,000 images in the art history archives to create a new photo based on the original plus the relevant data instructions from the scan.

“With AI Portraits Ars anyone is able to use GAN models to generate a new painting, where facial lines are completely redesigned.

The model decides for itself which style to use for the portrait. Details of the face and background contribute to direct the model towards a style.

In style transfer, there is usually a strong alteration of colors, but the features of the photo remain unchanged. AI Portraits Ars creates new forms, beyond altering the style of an existing photo.”

As can be seen from the montage above (and the version with names added below) the results are often flattering in an odd ancient sort of way. Also, some, such a Keanu Reeves, are obvious (?) whereas others you might never guess!
